The Dev Samaj Mahotsav, being held at Dev Samaj Head Office, Sector 36-B, Chandigarh, to observe the 174th Birth Anniversary celebrations of the founder of Dev Samaj, by Bhagwan DevAtma, concluded with bhajans, prayers, and a pledge to follow the ideals laid down by the tenets of Dev Samaj.
The range of activities organized during the four-day celebrations centred around daily discourses on social ethics and moral culture. In keeping with the Dev Samaj teachings of undertaking socially beneficial initiatives, a mega blood donation camp in collaboration with PGIMER and Sukh Foundation was organized. Prof Vipin Kaushal, MS & Head Dept. for Hospital Administration & Nodal Officer, Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO-North), PGIMER Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Also present were Dr Suchet Sachdev, Dept. of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER and Sanjay Kumar, DSP, Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI), Govt. of India, as guests of honor. An Organ Donation Awareness camp was also held. Volunteers from Dev Samaj institutions and members of the general public donated blood actively, and many pledged their organs too. 100 units of blood were donated. Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Member, Dev Samaj Managing Council, congratulated the organisers and lauded the efforts of the donors who came forward to voluntarily participate in the noble cause.
Another highlight of the Mahotsav was a mahasabha initiated by Dr Agnese Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj, on ‘Dev Jeewandhari Bhagwan Dev Atma’. The insightful lecture highlighted the teachings of the founder of Dev Samaj. She said, “The founder of Dev Samaj propagated the highest human values of truth and honesty with resilience despite the challenges posed by society. These virtues must be integrated into our lives so that we all can lead a purposeful existence.”
Another important discourse was on ‘Maanvata ko Bhagwan Dev Atma ki Aavshaykta’ by Shriman Ram Vilas Pandey. The speaker highlighted the importance of the relationship we have with our body and soul.
